The Ultimate Beach House

Wednesday, April 22, 2015

This definitely is an ultimate beach house, isn't it?
I don't think a beach house can get any better than this Venice Beach hidden oasis.

There's a guest house just as charming as the main house.

Modern beach bungalow with decked courtyard garden on Rose Avenue.
Would you like to live there?

Foggy Weather

Wednesday, November 23, 2011

 What a fog!
Cannot see the ocean.
 The boardwalk in Venice Beach
Life goes on despite the foggy weather
- the guy's playing Led Zeppelin in this almost sunny spot

LAPD checking the situation on boardwalk
The police continuing towards Marina del Rey

The best thing in Venice was walking along
the boardwalk to Santa Monica in early mornings
when it was still quiet and without the street vendors.
Only people walking, jogging, cycling,
carrying surfboards, buying the morning's first coffee...
- very special atmosphere

Did NOT visit a kush doctor while in LA!
- heard that the recipe costs $40

Venice Lifestyle

Very Halloweenish!
There's lot so of street art in LA,
especially in Venice

The paintings are usually huge
Marilyn on a fence of a house
Sad and spooky
Perfect for Venice in California
- actually there was a lagoon like this
The lagoon used to be in this place
Scary house decoration
After the overwhelming art,
take a surf board...
...and relax as the Californians do.

Main Street

Sunday, November 20, 2011

Beginning at the bottom of the Third Street Promenade
Main Street leads from Santa Monica to the heart of Venice

The '30s-era Santa Monica City Hall on 1685 Main Street

Cute little doggie in the front of a hair salon on Main Street
- the most interesting stretch of Main St runs between
Pico Blvd and Rose Ave
Had both manicure and pedicure in this nail spa on Main Street
- superb pampering experiment,
making the nails was like Chinese art,
they are real professionals here
- walk-ins are welcome

Eclectic and funky Weego Home interiors shop on Main Street
Happy modern murals
One example of public art displayed along Main Street
- Edgemar Center for the Arts
and California Heritage Museum are also found here

No snow-boarding in Venice
but Big Bear nearby is already open!
Interesting chandelier on a shop window

By the early '70s, the majority of the neighbourhood's
attractions had been demolished,
and Main Street itself had become a slum.

Sculptor Paul Conrad's Chain Reaction (1991)
- stainless-steel and copper-link chin statement
against nuclear war
Today Main Street is an upmarket strip
- dating from the early 20th century
- a wide range of largely independent shops,
coffeehouses, restaurants,
beauty salons and first-rate art galleries
are found on Main St
Jonathan Borofsky's Ballerina Clown
on the corner of Main Street and Rose Avenue
View from a side street of Main Street to the ocean

Food on Main
Galley on 2442 Main St is the oldest restaurant in Santa Monica
- American cuisine
Urth Caffe on 2327 Main St
- organic coffees, teas and food
Lula on Main St
- Mexican cuisine

Among these there're 2 Starbucks,
plenty of other coffeehouses,
lunch restaurants, Bravo pizzeria 2go

Cycling

Saturday, November 19, 2011

some like it pink & fury
Some like it custom-made
The boardwalk between Santa Monica & Venice Beach
is not only great for people-watching
but also for bike-watching
Not surprised seeing somebody riding this bicycle in Venice
- saw it in a shop on Main Street
Beautiful Linus bicycles for $495,-
on Abbot Kinney Blvd
Boardwalk in the afternoon
Rather relaxed atmosphere
